Posted on

Being injured at work can end up causing you a lot of problems. You may be stuck with a lot of medical bills that you have to try to pay as well as trying to come up with some kind of income while you are recuperating or if you have to permanently not work. If you are trying to get what you are entitled to, you may have to seek the assistance of an attorney. The insurance company and the attorney that are representing your employer may not want to give you what you are entitled to. If you are going to go see an attorney, you need to make sure that you are doing everything you can in order to help your attorney.

Sign Some Releases

One thing that you need to do to help your attorney help you is to sign some releases with your doctor. The release will allow your doctor to speak your attorney. When you sign the release, you will be able to specify who the doctor can speak to, what they can talk about, and when the release will expire. Your doctor will only be able to speak to the person on the release, so you may also have to sign one for any associates that the attorney is working with if they also need to speak to your doctor.

Gather Your Records

You also want to make sure that you have gotten a hold of all your medical records. You should be able to get these pretty easily. Call all your doctors' offices. They may need to have a couple of days in order to organize everything before you can pick them up. If you have been with the practice for a long while, you may only ask to get records referring to a certain time period or about certain things. Talk to the hospital you were treated at because of your injury. Some offices do charge a nominal fee to get your records, but you may be able to charge that to your insurance.

If you have been in an accident at work, you may be entitled to money to cover your medical costs as well as your pain and suffering. You may need to see a workers' compensation attorney to get the help that you need to get the financial relief that you are entitled to. You also want to make sure that you are doing everything you can to help your attorney help you.
